Community Outreach and Engagement

South Florida’s longest-running juried arts festival, the Beaux Arts Festival of Art welcomes visitors every winter to the University’s Coral Gables Campus to explore original artwork from more than 150 fine art exhibitors. The family-friendly event draws more than 20,000 people over two days. A nonprofit established in 1952, Beaux Arts provides support to the University's Lowe Art Museum by assisting with art acquisitions, contributing to the museum’s ongoing operation, and enhancing its educational programming.

Since 2021, the University of Miami has partnered with the Miami Book Fair on the eight-day festival, which has become a significant and globally recognized cultural event over the past 40 years, now offering in-person and online programs. Among the hundreds of authors who present their books, University faculty authors—including physicians, researchers, and poets—join the conversations to connect with readers, subject matter experts, and community members on a number of topics.

During Art Basel Miami Beach, graduate students pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree exhibit their work at the University of Miami Gallery in Wynwood, gaining exposure to thousands of visitors. Art aficionados descend upon South Florida for Miami Art Week to explore the Miami art scene and related events, including the annual Bubbles and Brunch lecture hosted by the Lowe Art Museum.
